MRS. GROSSERODE

Amanda was raised on a cattle ranch in central Nebraska. She graduated from Wayne State College in northeast Nebraska with a degree in Elementary Education. She and her husband, Chad, moved to Lenexa in late December of 1999, when her husband took a job in Overland Park. After completing her student teaching in Blue Valley, she took a position teaching 5th grade in Shawnee Mission until the birth of her oldest child. Amanda and her husband, Chad, have homeschooled their 2 children for the past 9 years and are looking forward to year 10.

In 2009, Amanda became very active in grassroots politics. That involvement generated a desire to further that interest in state politics. In 2010, Amanda was elected as State Representative of District 16, parts of Lenexa and Overland Park. She served in that position from January 2011-2017. While in office, Amanda was members of the Education, Education Budget, Appropriations, Federal and State Affairs, and Local Government Committees. She served as Vice-Chair of Education Budget Committee for 2013-2014, and she chaired the Education Budget Committee for 2015-2016. She continues to be active in local politics.

In addition to her time in state government, Amanda has a love of all things athletics related. She is an assistant coach to her youngest's baseball team and spends many weekday evenings and weekends at the baseball fields watching both of her boys play.
